1994 was the dawn of high-performance longboarding. Boards were lighter, high planing, with multiple fins, elegant rockers and of course radical art that came along with it. It was a new way of riding longboards because love it or hate it, they were being surfed vertically for the first time. Benny Mac has always been a car nut and circa '94 had a '66 Pheonix. On the engine, it had '318 Fireball' written on it, and so the Fireball was born. The name stuck, and Benny got Shez around the corner in Ballina to draw up the graphics, a literal fireball in a classic '90s style true to that time to match the name.
